GIFE exists to bring together entities and businesses that freely and with their own resources, invest time, talent and material resources, promoting and carrying out systematic activities that support the social development of the nation, by encouraging participative citizenship, with the goal of operating within high ethical standards.
GIFE advocates the dignity of man and his primacy over all the other values of the material order, thus equating social development to common good, which is, in the last instance, the very reason of being of GIFE.
The concepts and the practice of social investment defended by GIFE come from the consciousness of its responsibility to and reciprocity with society, freely taken upon by institutes, foundations or businesses, associates of GIFE.
Therefore, the practices of social investment are of a distinct nature and should not be confused nor used as tools for commercialization of tangible or intangible goods (for profit), by part of the sustaining business, as are for example, marketing, sales promotion, as well as human resource policies and proceedings, that have the goal of development and the welfare of its own work force, which are therefore, in the interest of the business.
Nevertheless, it is just that GIFE's associates expect, as a subproduct of a successful social investment, a greater added value for its image.
In order to support the carrying out of these goals, this code declares ethical values and norms of professional conduct to which the members of GIFE freely adhere, and, therefore, commit themselves to observe, conscious of their responsibility for the correct practice of the activities that lend support to social development.
